Jose, the Lone Ranger
It's been some time since I've had tequila. I'm not talking about a shot of Patron here and there because I've had that every now and then. I'm talking about enough Tequila to make you feel all warm and sentimental. I was fortunate to experience those feelings this weekend. Strangely enough, Jose was nowhere to be seen.
On Friday, Soo, Mat and I tried to go to the Sunset Room but we ended up arriving at 10:30, right when the guest list line closed. I've seen it pretty crowded there before but this past Friday, it was riDICulously packed with people. The three of us decided to go to S-bar in K-town instead and thanks to Soo and our server, we were able to get out fade on without giving out wallets the Heimlich Manuever. Thank you Soo for hooking it up like that.

After filling up our stomach and liver, we decided to make one anothers' ears bleed. We hit up a nearby Karaoke room.

Saturday I got to hang out with Tommy and Joe, something which was long overdue. Thanks fellas for taking the time out to meet up. Joe, your entreprenuerial skills are scary, especially on "service" products.
Since it was Jiyon's birthday, (unofficially) the plan was to go to Joya. I bought a thoughtful gift and headed to her place.
FYI - Don't get the cheaper Sauza
My kind of woman
Joya was a cool place. It wasn't as small as I thought it was going to be... Maybe going to New York clubs placed things into perspective for me. Overall though, I had a good time at Joya and of course I saw some random people from the past. Tommy and I had some things to do the next day so we left early. But HAPPY BDAY JIYON!!!
Jeon, Chester, Carrie & Mat
Julie and Jack caught in the act
I was a little faded so I let Tommy drive. Good thing too because after we exited the 110 at Orange Grove, all cars that were entering the 210 East onramp had to go through a sobriety checkpoint. Man oh man. Tommy didn't drink that night so there were no problems, but I know a lot of people were probably crapping bricks in their cars when they saw that checkpoint.
Anyway, other than kicking it with friends and reuniting with 100% Agave, I decided to reapply for law schools again and work for one year. Decided that actually right when I was typing this. So, we'll see how everything pans out in the end.

Today's eye candy is the delicioso Kim Smith. She is on the pages of Maxim this month so if you haven't copped the magazine yet, do so. I don't usually post more than one picture per entry, but Patron was good to me this weekend. You can see more of Kim at www.maximonline.com.

Will Not Negotiate
As many of you may know, the most recent victim to televised terrorist executions was Kim Sun-il, who met his unjust demise today despite pleading desperately on camera to the public and to his home country.
This young Korean was following his dreams of becoming a missionary in Iraq when he was abducted by a militant group. Trying to use this young man as a bargaining chip, the militant group gave South Korean an ultimatum - Either cease the deployment of Korean troops or be responsible for the death of a fellow Korean. Well, we all know how this sad tale ended.
President Bush declared that there would be no negotiations with terrorists and that "the free world cannot be intimidated by the brutal actions of these barbaric people." And while I agree that one can't sensibly argue or reason with terrorists, I'm not sure about how America or the world would react if someone with more influence and importance were to be held hostage and given the same conditions these innocent abductees received.
What would happen if a big enough fish was caught and the militant group threatened to suffocate the life from it... To the ones lost from war or ill-fate, may you finally rest in peace.

Imminent Wanderings
Recently I have been putting in more overtime at work. It's not that I like leaving the office at 7:30, but I just don't have enough time to finish my projects. Sometimes the hours in a workday can come and go quicker than an old man's erection. (knock on wood - no pun intended)
I accepted my job knowing it would be a temporary position because the prospect of me attending law school was undeniable. Strangely enough, my once resolute volition has wavered and I am now thinking about reapplying to three law schools I didn't get into this year. When it comes down to it, I just don't want to regret not giving those schools another try.
In order to fully weigh my options, I need to know what I would do with my time if I reapplied for the next academic year. So, I threw down the gauntlet at work on Thursday.
I met with my superviser and the human resources manager and told them I needed to know how much they would be willing to allocate for my salary if I decided to join their team for one year. In this way, I would not only have the information needed to consider the opportunity costs of working versus going to school, but I would also find out how much the company values my employment. (within fixed budgetting that is)
I'm not sure how much compensation the CEO will suggest but the negotiation of my salary WILL pave the road of my tomorrow. I might sound like some money-driven bastard, but green paper is not the only motivating force in this decision. I also have to take into consideration the work environment and the challenges my work entails. I have to admit I like my work environment; I love being forced to manage my time while balancing my responsibilities, I love being able to meet so many different people; It's great being able to hear and speak Japanese all day long.
I guess I'll see what happens when it happens.

Onto more important things in one's life... like FOOD! I went to Mission 261 on Friday night with my parents because it was my mom's birthday. This Chinese restaurant had great customer service!!! Yeah I know - when can you say ever say 'Chinese' and 'good customer service' in one sentence? But oddly enough, this place had an attentive waiting staff, polite servers, and the food was really good. So if you want a nice Chinese place to take someone and you're in the San Gabriel Valley area, try this place. But on the same note, be willing to allow your wallet or purse to throw up a little more money than usual because this place is not cheap. Can't have it all I suppose.

Noooooooooooooo!!!
The Lakers lost!!! Nooooooooooo! For those who watched the game tonight, that was painful. My eyes needed bandages after that. The Pistons were more collectively cohesive and the Lakers were all over the place. Was it just me or did the Pistons seem like they were kindergarten kids ODing on Ritalin during recess? The Lakers looked like they were a bunch of geezers trying to make a fast break away from their nursing home. =I
After this season, which is now officially over, the future of the Lakers are questionable. Phil Jackson will probably leave; I don't even think Kobe even knows what his next steps are; Fisher and Malone are also questionable as well... One thing is for sure, the Lakers as we know it will never be the same. Well, like rabid dog humping, all good things must end.
To add insult to injury, one of my friends emailed me this attachment today. What a bastard.

Laker Woes
I can't believe the Lakers lost again tonight. This now makes it a 3-1 Pistons lead and no team in NBA history has ever won this kind of uphill battle before. But history is based upon past events and as long as there is a tomorrow, there is a possibility of history being made. Guess it's time to rewrite the books!

Ebay Dumb Azz
This weekend I came across an E-tard. No, I am not referring to an ecstacy pill popping maniac. I'm talking about a dumb azz ebayer.
I've been told that people have been selling their gmail invitations for about $200 on ebay. In two weeks, it became less exclusive and started selling for roughly $80. A week after that, people were still buying these invitations for around $40. This is when I decided to hop on the bandwagon and put up three invitations for sale. I only averaged $13 per invite, but I guess $13 is still better than nothing. Currently you can buy these invitations on ebay for under $5. Man, how 24 hours makes a difference towards "exclusive items."
Anyway, I sold one invitation to let's call him Stupid Lame Azz (SLA) on Wednesday. He paid me and I emailed him the invite two hours later. On Friday, I didn't get a confirmation email acknowledging his acceptance of the invitation so I sent him a courtesy email reminding him that the offer was only available for 30 days. I thought I was being a good ebay seller by following up on this transaction. Naturally I expected SLA to be appreciative of my efforts. Was I wrong.
On Saturday afternoon, I checked my email and I received four emails from SLA. Here they are in chronological order and in all its mistyped glory.
1) Ted this is the first email of any kind from you, I have yet to get the invite and am very upset about it. please email me invite as soon as possible. thank you
2) No ted the gmail invite was not sent to this or any other email address I have. In 24 hours I will be leaving neg. feedback at your account and contacting paypal as to this activity.
3) still have yet to get my invite for the gmail account, please let me know when I sdhould except a refund.
4) If I do not hear from you tommorrow by 2pm, I am goinmg to contact paypal and leave proper feedback.

So all of this happened on a Friday when I was busy meeting deadlines at work. I didn't have time to check my email on Friday and I sure wasn't going to check it after work. This joker gave me 24 hours notice to respond on a Friday. WTH??? Try being authoritative like that to me in person PaHTnah. SLA ultimately left me negative feedback on my ebay account. That little sac of $#&*(@#&* stained my perfect rating score!!! I know, i know, stupid trivialities, but I like having an immaculate slate.
Here's how I responded to SLA. I should have sent the original draft. Sometimes I think I'm too civilized... really. =I
SLA,
I have sent you the invitation at this account through my XXXX@gmail.com two hours after the auction ended. I am going to forward you the invitation I sent out on Wednesday. You can still use the link in the email as it is active for at least another 24 days or so.
Two things first:
First of all, you are a disgrace to the Ebay community and I hope you are proud of your petty behavior in regards to this transaction. You have given me 24 hours starting on Friday of all days to respond to your request. Normally one full business day is given to the seller but you have decided to count Saturday because you were "very upset about it."
Secondly, since you have already left negative feedback defaming my integrity, I really don't have to forward you the gmail email with the active invitation link. Look up "double jeapordy" in the dictionary if you already don't understand that simple concept. If ebay or paypal contacts me regarding this issue, I will simply send them both this email along with the sent email recorded in the archives of my gmail account. They won't take any action against me because I DID send you your invitation. You just didn't receive this invitation for reasons beyond my control.
There are so many things I want to say to you for the way you handled this transaction and I would actually enjoy verbally berating your character and personality, but I think I've wasted enough of my time with you. Have a good day and enjoy your gmail account. I'm sorry if this has inconvenienced you like it has me.
Dayamn, you see how nice I am? Sometimes I wish I was Josh T cuz napalm could be nice every now and then.
Anyway, for those who don't trust ebay, you have reason to. This world has its fair share of stupid azzes. But I still like using ebay because you can find deals sometimes that are insane.

Today's eye candy is as unknown to you as she is to me. I just like the way she melts in my eyes. Enjoy.

Decisions, Decisions
To go to a law school this year that I'm not crazy about or to reapply to the law schools I really want to go to... These are two questions that have been plaguing my mind these past few weeks.
On one hand, I want to get law school over and done with already so that I can start my career. In this sense, going to any law school (any decent law school that is) would seem like a very viable option. But then again, in this superficial day and age where the name of the school you graduate from is considered an indicator of your intelligence and potential worth at a law firm, going to an average law school might be a risky venture.
If I decide to reapply this year, I will also need to decide upon a job to occupy my time and mind. I am content at my current job but I have yet to bring up the topic of compensation with the CEO and Human Resources Manager. For sure I'm going to be wanting much more if my pay becomes salary-based. I can tell discussing my pay is going to be fun. It's going to be as sensitive as nipples are during a girl's time of the month.(so I've heard)
In the meantime, I need to prepare for the LSATs again (thought I'd never say, let alone type that sentence) and keep on working hard at the office.

Lawry's Rib
No I did not forget the "prime" before the rib. I went to Lawry's with Linda two weeks ago and it seems like the food wasn't as great as I remembered it to be. Strange because I used to love that place. Too bad the prime rib lost the prime somewhere during the past years. Good thing my company was good though. =D
