Could This Be the Way Home?

After an intense house search that exhausted most of my free time for the past month, I found some nice properties that I made offers on but I either got shot down or there was some other reason why the deal wouldn't fall through. I was beginning to think about just waiting a couple of months before starting my search over again but I then found a house that I thought was pretty nice. It's 2 stories with 3 bedrooms and 3 full baths totaling around 2300 square feet, which is pretty dayang big. What's more is that it was reasonably priced too... Well, reasonable given today's crazy market, not reasonably in the general sense.

As I brought back my rents to show them the house I was going to make an offer on, the listing agent and the owner of the house coincidentally came by. All of us started talking and we hit it off really well. The listing agent was supposedly the next door neighbor of the house I wanted to purchase. My realtor and new partner in crime, Daniel, and I decided to turn up our charm to kiss azz level and we took turns working on the owner and the listing agent. I think this tactic worked well because the listing agent really wanted me to make an offer so that I could get the house. The owner was giving me lots of signs that she liked me too.

So an hour later, my agent and I made an offer above the asking price with 10% down. The listing agent told me that there had been one higher offer with 30% down and the owner was seriously considering that buyer. 30 freaking percent down!!! Good lo that's a gang of cash and a really strong offer.

Fortunately, luck decided to take a leak on the other side of the fence because both the listing agent and the seller were pretty emotional people and because they both liked me, I had a big advantage. The listing agent ended up telling my realtor what exact number to offer and she promised she would do everything in her power to convince the owner to sell to me. She even mentioned how she wanted to introduce me to her daughter who is currently going to NYU. Ummmmmm, how do you say "Thank you but no more Hot & Sour Soup" in Mandarin?

In any case, I made another offer just 2 thousand bucks over the highest bid and with my measley 10%, I was able to get the seller to accept my offer! The other interested party tried to counteroffer with a higher price but the listing agent remained firm like saline implants and told them no. I was going crazy by the time I heard this news, which was around 1:00 am.

Now my house is in escrow and I requested to close in 21 days so that I could spend my birthday this year in my new house... So far so good! I'm crossing my fingers hoping that everything works out fine.

So without further ado, I'll hopefully be spending at least the next two to three years in this house, or PUD for those who know the lingo.

And yes, I know it's pink... Get over it.
