Weekend of Clubbing

So I thought my clubbing spree had ultimately died down, but as it seems, the winds of spontaneity and the desire to go out shoved me back onto the all too familiar path. And yes, the scene is still the same; plenty of alcohol, good times dancing, and more fencing matches than the Olympics. If you don't understand the last comment, obviously you've been going to the right clubs. hahaa

On Friday night, I headed over to the Sunset Room because it was Climaxx's premier night and Jin was supposed to be performing. My friends and I got there well before the guestlist cutoff time, but sadly enough, we didn't get in because of the wonderful bouncers.

I'm sure everyone has heard of the stereotypical Hollywood bouncers who only allow the ladies to get in while they blatantly cork the flow of guys. I personally have never witnessed such a phenomenon, but on Friday I was able to experience it. There was supposed to be a guestlist line, a table-list line, and a general public line, but the lines took on a funny circular-glob shape, making it seem more like a pool of confused souls than a organized division. Nobody knew where to go because the bouncers were so erratic with their selection process. And yes, if you were a female, you got priority...

Usually I encourage the limitation of roosters in a henhouse, but you also have to look at things from a business perspective. Ladies get in for cheaper, if not for free. They usually don't buy as many drinks as guys and in many cases, they don't buy drinks period because the fellas offer to treat. In essence, girls attract guys to go to clubs, but guys still need to get in there in the first place. If you really wanna be a dick of a bouncer and filter the crowd, you should do it from a more superficial stance, not one simply based on what kind of reproductive organs people have.

Anyway, my group ended up getting out of line, and headed to Club Deep. The bikini-clad dancers sprawled on the glass ceilings were absent that day, (go on Saturdays if you wanna see that) Joe's leftovers from dinner ended up finding a nice home on some NBA player's jacket, and we were advised to leave the club after that NBA player wanted to squash things with two of my friends, but other than that, I had a good time. hahaha

For Valentines, I ended up arranging some flowers for Linda. In Japanese, we call it ikebana, (flower-arranging) and although it's supposed to be a zen-related meditative activity, it was actually pretty stressful. My boy Ryan and I woke up early on Saturday to get fresh flowers and fillers, went back to his house, and started to orchestrate our symphonies. We hit a few flat notes, but thanks to Ryan's mom who actually knew how to arrange, we ended up churning out some decent work. Flower arranging is harder than it looks and I now hold more respect than ever for the arrangers that produce crazy works of art. Here is the vase of flowers I did:

On Sunday, I went clubbing at the Mayan with Tommy and Paul, and we met up with Linda and her friends. Quick note to my fellow Los Angeles clubbers out there. The bartenders at the Mayan pour their Tequila shots into plastic cups so in actuality, you're paying for a single shot but getting about 2 1/2 shots worth. (Quick homage to the bartenders there) Besides the throng of guys with their tongues yo-yoing around the stage where the import models were go-go dancing, the crowd was pretty decent and I was able to get my boogie on. And Tommy, am I not the greatest wingman or what? You owe me dun. hahaha.

Kitchen Update

Well the cabinets have finally been installed. It looks pretty good, despite some small details that the constructor accidentally neglected. He knows we won't pay until they do it our way. But in essence, the only remaining project for the kitchen is the countertop. It's going to take about three weeks until it will be ready so it looks like it's going to be more dining out for me and my fam.

Today's eye candy is Ms. Rachel Sterling, a sweet that has been on this site a few times before. Her flavor just seems to last and last and last. Yum.
